Coast Guard's Partnership in Education (CGPIE) program was established in 1991 in accordance with The National and Community Service Act of 1990. Its purpose is to promote excellence in education, create opportunities to enhance students’ academic abilities and expose students to career opportunities within the Coast Guard.
Coast Guard’s PIE program offers many resources for teachers as well as for students. Through this site, you can link to various resources related to the environment, lighthouses, the history of women and minorities in the U.S. Coast Guard, and much more. Information is presented in a colorful and entertaining format designed to peak students' interest while improving their reading and writing skills as they learn about Coast Guard’s missions and its people.
