CAPTAIN G. TODD PRESTIDGE, USCG
A career afloat officer and permanent
cutterman, Captain Prestidge previously served on five separate cutters and
commanded three of them. Most recently, he served as the Commanding Officer
of Coast Guard Cutter Resolute, homeported in St. Petersburg, FL. During his
time onboard Resolute, Captain Prestidge and his crew conducted counter
narcotics, search and rescue, illegal immigration and alien interdiction,
and fisheries enforcement operations throughout the Caribbean and Gulf of
Mexico. His other previous afloat commands include the Coast Guard Cutter
Bramble, homeported in Port Huron, MI, servicing maritime aids to navigation
and conducting ice breaking operations on Lakes Huron, St. Clair, Erie, and
Ontario, and the Coast Guard Cutter Point Spencer, homeported in Galveston,
TX, where he was awarded the National Marine Fisheries Service Law
Enforcement Unit of the Year Award. His other afloat tours were aboard CGC
Dallas as a Deck Watch Officer, and CGC Papaw as the Executive Officer.
Along with his operational experience, Captain Prestidge has also previously served as the Executive Assistant to the Assistant Commandant for Governmental and Public Affairs and the Project Manager for the Coast Guard’s sponsorship of a NASCAR Busch Series Racing Team, the Chief of the Atlantic Area Law Enforcement and SEOPS Training Teams, and as the Aide to the District Commander for the Eighth Coast Guard District in New Orleans, LA. From 2008-2010, Captain Prestidge served as the Chief of the Enlisted Assignments Branch at the Coast Guard Personnel Service Center. His most recent assignment was as the Chief of the Office of Military Personnel at Coast Guard Headquarters in Washington, DC. In this role, he was responsible for all policies regarding accession, pay, compensation, benefits, transportation, personnel management, housing administration, separations, discharges, and evaluations for a 43,000 active duty workforce.
Captain Prestidge has received a Masters in Strategic Studies from the Army War College in Carlisle, PA, and a Masters in Public Administration from The George Washington University’s School of Public Policy and Public Administration where he was inducted into the Pi Alpha Alpha Honor Society. His undergraduate education was completed at the United States Coast Guard Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. In the fall of 2009, Captain Prestidge was named to the Coast Guard Academy’s Distinguished Graduate Panel for Inspirational Leadership.
Captain Prestidge grew up in a military family, and was born in Houston, Texas. His list of personal awards includes the Meritorious Service Medal (4), Coast Guard Commendation Medal (4), Coast Guard Achievement Medal (2), and numerous unit and team awards.
