Civilian Coast Guard employees are entitled to use most of the same education programs, resources, and benefits that apply to uniformed personnel. These include:
Tuition assistance (up to $250 per credit and up to $4,500 per year)
Coast Guard Institute courses
CLEP tests (Coast Guard pays)
DSSTs (Coast Guard pays)
SkillSoft courses (free)
The Coast Guard
has a program which will “repay certain types of federally insured student
loans as recruitment or retention incentive for certain Coast Guard civilian
employees paid from appropriated funds.”
