Equal Opportunity training is conducted on the TRACEN monthly in class sizes of 15-20. The purpose is to explain the organizational elements of the Coast Guard Equal Opportunity Program. This program provides TRACEN and local members with on-going training in human relations, military rights and responsibilities, and other topics pertinent to Equal Opportunity. Because issues and Service needs in this area constantly change and military personnel need to be aware of their respective roles in the EO Program.

Basic Human Awareness Explain the elements of unlawful
discrimination and
the ways in which it may be
manifested in the Coast Guard.

How prejudice, when combined with power may lead
to discrimination.
Describe strategies to prevent discrimination.
Communication Describe the communications process and barriers to communication. Suggest how to improve communication skills and how to give and receive feedback. Describe effective listening.
Prevention of Sexual Harassment Describe the sexual harassment policies. Understand sexual harassment/discrimination. Definitions and examples of sexual harassment. Responsibilities regarding sexual harassment.
