Because they are not paid with appropriated funds Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) employees are under a different TA system than military and other civilian employees. Policies concerning TA for NAF employees are standardized under PSCINST 12900.1C. Degree, non-degree, and professional certification courses are all reimbursable.
Employees may be reimbursed for two courses per term and six courses per fiscal year;
Employees will be reimbursed only upon completion of a course with a grade of "C" or better;
The maximum amount available per employee is $4,500 per year;
Employees may receive up to $250 per credit for tuition only;
The course must be offered by an accredited institution.
Employees may be reimbursed for non-college-credit courses which are part of a certificate or diploma program;
The program must result in a state, national, or locally-recognized certificate;
Employees are not eligible for TA for more than one certificate in the same type of program;
The maximum amount available per employee is $2,250 per calendar year;
Courses must be in a specific job-related discipline;
Courses should provide the employee with skills, knowledge, and competencies applicable to his/her current position;
The maximum amount available per employee is $2,250 per calendar year.
TA for NAF employees will be approved only when budgets allow. If the number of requests exceeds available funding, funds will be disbursed on a pro-rata basis to those who have approved applications in that school term.
The instruction includes a form the employee fills out and submits after completing the course for which s/he wishes to receive reimbursement.
