CAPTAIN G. TODD PRESTIDGE, USCG
An officer with extensive operational, training, and policy experience, Captain G. Todd Prestidge has held leadership positions at the tactical and operational levels both ashore and afloat. In his current assignment, Captain Prestidge serves as the Commanding Officer of Training Center Cape May, NJ; the Coast Guard’s only Recruit Training facility and “The Birthplace of the Coast Guard’s Enlisted Corps.” In this capacity, he oversees the accession training for over 3,000 new Coast Guardsmen annually, and serves as the Base Commander for 13 tenant commands with a combined workforce of over 1,000 personnel.
As a permanent cutterman, Captain Prestidge previously served on CGC Dallas as a Deck Watch Officer, and the CGC Papaw as the Executive Officer; and served as the Commanding Officer of CGC Resolute, homeported in St. Petersburg, FL, CGC Bramble, homeported in Port Huron, MI, and the CGC Point Spencer, homeported in Galveston, TX.
Along with his operational experience, Captain Prestidge has also previously served as the Executive Assistant to the Governmental and Public Affairs Directorate in Coast Guard Headquarters, the Project Manager for the Coast Guard’s sponsorship of a NASCAR Racing Team, the Chief of the Atlantic Area Training Teams, and as the Aide to the District Commander for the Eighth Coast Guard District in New Orleans, LA. From 2008-2010, Captain Prestidge served as the Chief of the Enlisted Assignments Branch at the Coast Guard Personnel Service Center. His most recent assignment was as the Chief of the Office of Military Personnel at Coast Guard Headquarters in Washington, DC. In this role, he was responsible for all policies regarding accession, pay, compensation, assignment, transportation, personnel management, housing administration, separations, discharges, and evaluations for a 43,000 active duty workforce.
Captain Prestidge has received a Masters in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle, PA; and a Masters in Public Administration from The George Washington University’s School of Public Policy and Public Administration, where he was inducted into the Pi Alpha Alpha Honor Society. His undergraduate education was completed at the United States Coast Guard Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. In the fall of 2009, Captain Prestidge was named to the Coast Guard Academy’s Distinguished Graduate Panel for Inspirational Leadership.
Captain Prestidge grew up in a military family, and was born in Houston, Texas. His list of personal awards includes the Meritorious Service Medal (5), Coast Guard Commendation Medal (4), Coast Guard Achievement Medal (2), and numerous unit and team awards.
