Training Center Cape May Command

Commanding Officer

CDCA career afloat officer and permanent cutterman, Captain Prestidge previously served on five separate cutters and commanded three of them. Most recently, he served as the Commanding Officer of Coast Guard Cutter Resolute, homeported in St. Petersburg, FL. During his time onboard Resolute, Captain Prestidge and his crew conducted counter narcotics, search and rescue, illegal immigration and alien interdiction, and fisheries enforcement operations throughout the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico. Executive Officer

CDCCommander Owen Gibbons, a native of East Greenwich, RI enlisted in the Coast Guard in 1985 and was assigned as a deck seaman aboard cutter REDWOOD in New London, CT. In 1987 he attended Electronic Technician Class “A” School and served aboard the cutter TAMPA in Portsmouth, VA and Station Tybee in Savannah, GA before attending Officer Candidate School in 1993. He was assigned to Maintenance and Logistics Command Atlantic as Training Officer after receiving his commission. Full bio.

Command Master Chief

CDCAfter graduating from Recruit Training at Training Center Cape May, N.J. in 1986, Master Chief Cowart returned some 27 years later as the Command Master Chief in July of 2013. In between his assignments to Training Center Cape May, Master Chief’s duties allowed him to travel to 16 countries on five continents and included assignments to the Cutter Vigorous in New London, Conn., Station Tybee Island, Ga., Aviation Training Center Mobile, Ala., Air Station Savannah, Ga., the Aviation Repair and Supply Center in Elizabeth City, N.C., Air Station Atlantic City, N.J., the Aviation Technical Training Center in Elizabeth City, Air Station Elizabeth City, and Air Station Sitka, Alaska.
