Training Center Cape May Command

Commanding Officer

Captain PrestidgeA career afloat officer and permanent cutterman, Captain Prestidge previously served on five separate cutters and commanded three of them. Most recently, he served as the Commanding Officer of Coast Guard Cutter Resolute, homeported in St. Petersburg, FL. During his time onboard Resolute, Captain Prestidge and his crew conducted counter narcotics, search and rescue, illegal immigration and alien interdiction, and fisheries enforcement operations throughout the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico. Executive Officer

CDR MuseCommander Joseph Meuse earned his commission and a Bachelor of Science in Government Studies in 1998 from the United States Coast Guard Academy.  Prior to assignment as Executive Officer of Training Center Cape May, Commander Meuse has successfully served in a variety of operational and staff assignments. Upon graduation from the Coast Guard Academy, Commander Meuse was assigned to the Coast Guard Cutter MOHAWK in Key West, FL as a Deck Watch Officer and First Lieutenant/Deck Department Head.   Full bio.

Command Master Chief

CMC CowartAfter graduating from Recruit Training at Training Center Cape May, N.J. in 1986, Master Chief Cowart returned some 27 years later as the Command Master Chief in July of 2013. In between his assignments to Training Center Cape May, Master Chief’s duties allowed him to travel to 16 countries on five continents and included assignments to the Cutter Vigorous in New London, Conn., Station Tybee Island, Ga., Aviation Training Center Mobile, Ala., Air Station Savannah, Ga., the Aviation Repair and Supply Center in Elizabeth City, N.C., Air Station Atlantic City, N.J., the Aviation Technical Training Center in Elizabeth City, Air Station Elizabeth City, and Air Station Sitka, Alaska.
