JOB MARKET

A chart, from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (part of the Department of Labor), shows that over the course of the next ten years, jobs usually requiring an associate's degree are expected to have the fastest growth rate. But the chart also indicates that jobs, in general, now require significant post-high school educational or training.

Another shows the expected growth in different types of work during the next ten years. But just because a field you'd really like to go into isn't among the fastest growing, you shouldn't assume there's no room for you in it.

Also, the Department of Labor's Occupational Employment Statistics program breaks down employment statistics in ways useful to you in deciding which careers look most promising.
