Training Courses

The Training Branch's Coast Guard and civilian employees, including several contract personnel, design, develop and instruct "C" school courses and exportable post-installation operator courses. All of the "C" school courses instructed by C3CEN are pipeline courses with quotas managed by the Training Quota Management Center (TQC). To request a quota, submit a short-term training request to TQC. The three post-installation courses instructed, Seawatch Operator, VEGA ECS Operator, and Watchkeeper Operator are scheduled as part of the unit installation process.


CGC-208 WLM ISCS Ops & Nav

Course Duration/Student Quotas:10 Days/12 Students

This 10-day course, which incorporates the 2.5-day Machinery Plant Control and Monitoring System (MPCMS) operator course (CGC-210) curriculum, provides operational training to personnel who utilize the MPCMS, the CG-ECDIS, the Dynamic Positioning System (DPS), and the Integrated Ship's Control System (ISCS) onboard the 175' WLM (Keeper Class) buoy tenders as a one functioning, Integrated Ship's Control System (ISCS).  The target audience consists of the Coast Guard Officer and Boatswain's Mate onboard the 175' WLM (Keeper Class) buoy tenders who perform operation and navigation procedures utilizing the WLM ISCS.  This course provides the student with the minimum skills required to perform operation and navigation procedures utilizing the WLM ISCS.

CGC-209 WLM ISCS Maintenance & Management

Course Duration/Student Quotas: 12 Days/4 Students

This 12-day course, which incorporates the 3-day Machinery Plant Control and Monitoring System (MPCMS) operator course (CGC-210) curriculum, provides systems maintenance training to personnel who perform maintenance on the Integrated Ship Control System (ISCS) onboard the 175' WLM (Keeper Class) buoy tenders. The target audience consists of the Electrician's Mate and Electronics Technician onboard the Keeper Class WLMs. This course will provide the student with the minimum skills required to maintain and repair the ISCS (MPCMS, DPS, ECDIS, AND SAFENET LAN).

CGC-210 WLM MPCMS Ops

Course Duration/Student Quotas: 3 Days/4 Students

This 3-day course provides an introduction to the function, purpose, and use of the Integrated Ship Control System (ISCS) onboard the 175' WLM (Keeper Class) buoy tenders. The target audience consists of the Coast Guard Machinery Technician and Damage Controlman attached to the Keeper Class WLMs or WLM Maintenance and Assist Teams. This course is also incorporated as part of the WLM ISCS Operation and Navigation (CGC-208) and the WLM ISCS Maintenance and Management (CGC-209) course curricula. This course provides the student with familiarity of the Keeper Class WLM's controls and operating characteristics.

CGC-215 140' WTGB ECPINS Basic Operator

Course Duration/Student Quotas: 4 Days/8 Students

CLCVN Dates: 9Feb15, 12May15

This 4-day course provides all personnel assigned as OODs and QMOWs onboard the 140' WTGBs with operation and safe navigational practices using ECPINS equipment, policies, and procedures in accordance with the following: ECPINS Operator's Manual, COMDTINST M3530.2C, and the AN/SPS Surface Search Radar Operator's Manual. Training consists of lectures, exercises, labs, and computer-based training. Students will receive basic operational instruction to setup and configure ECPINS equipment for normal and abnormal operations. Students will use mockup scenarios to practice safe navigation and basic operator skills.

This 5-day course provides operator training to personnel who operate the Shipboard Command and Control System (SCCS) onboard 110' WPBs, 210' and 270' WMECs, and 378' WHECs. The target audience consists of the Operation Specialist who performs SCCS basic operator duties. This training provides the WMEC and the WHEC SCCS operator with the minimum skills required to operate SCCS at the operator level.

The target audience consists of the Coast Guard Officer, Boatswain's Mate, and Operation Specialist who operate the COMDAC-INS. This training provides the student with the minimum skills required to operate the COMDAC-INS.

Special Information: A member only needs to attend this course once in his/her Coast Guard Career, regardless of the cutter class service member is assigned to (it should be noted that attending the CG-ECDIS Operator course also applies as completing this course).

This 5-day course provides the student with the minimum skills required to operate the ECDIS system onboard a FRC, 210', and 270' WMEM, a 378 WHEC and the WLMSL Coast Guard cutters. The target audience is the junior officer and BM.
