Training Courses

The Training Branch's Coast Guard and civilian employees, including several contract personnel, design, develop and instruct "C" school courses and exportable post-installation operator courses. All of the "C" school courses instructed by C3CEN are pipeline courses with quotas managed by the Training Quota Management Center (TQC). To request a quota, submit a short-term training request to TQC. The three post-installation courses instructed, Seawatch Operator, VEGA ECS Operator, and Watchkeeper Operator are scheduled as part of the unit installation process.


CGC-208 WLM ISCS Ops & Nav (130011)

Course Duration/Student Quotas: 5 Days/6 Students

CLCVN Dates: 8Feb16, 21Mar16, 11Jul16

This 5-day course provides operational training to personnel who utilize the Main Plant Control and Monitoring System (MPCMS), the Coast Guard-Electronic Chart Display System Information System (CG-ECDIS), the Dynamic Positioning System (DPS), and the Integrated Ship Control System (ISCS) onboard the 175' WLM (Keeper Class) buoy tenders as one functioning system. Also included in the course is operator training on the AN/SPS-50 Radar. The target audience consists of Coast Guard Officers and Boatswain Mates onboard the Keeper Class buoy tenders who perform operation and navigation procedures utilizing the WLM ISCS and the AN/SPS-50 Radar. The course consists of lecture, lab exercises, and a Self-Paced e-Learning (SPeL) to provide the student with the minimum skills required to perform operation and navigation procedures utilizing the WLM ISCS and AN/SPS-50 Radar.
This course is college accredited and IMO Certified.

CGC-209 WLM ISCS Maintenance & Management (501197)

Course Duration/Student Quotas: 12 Days/4 Students

This 12-day course, which includes Machinery Plant Control and Monitoring System (MPCMS) operator training, provides systems maintenance training to personnel who perform maintenance on the Integrated Ship Control System (ISCS)- which includes the MPCMS, the Coast Guard-Electronic Chart Display System Information System (CG-ECDIS), the Dynamic Positioning System (DPS), and the Coast Guard Data Distribution System (CGDDS)- onboard the 175' WLM (Keeper Class) buoy tenders. The target audience consists of the Electrician Mates and Electronics Technicians onboard the Keeper Class buoy tenders who perform maintenance and management procedures on the ISCS. The course consists of lecture and lab exercises to provide the student with the minimum skills required to maintain and repair the ISCS.

CGC-215 140' WTGB ECPINS Basic Operator (502133)

Course Duration/Student Quotas: 4 Days/8 Students

This 4-day course provides all personnel that stand Officer of the Day and Quartermaster of the Watch onboard the 140' WTGBs with operation and safe navigational practices using Electronic Chart Precise Integrated Navigation System (ECPINS) equipment, policies, and procedures in accordance with the following: ECPINS Operator's Manual, COMDTINST M3530.2D, and the AN/SPS Surface Search Radar Operator's Manual. Training consists of lectures, exercises, labs, and computer-based training. Students will receive basic operational instruction to setup and configure ECPINS equipment for normal and abnormal operations. Students will use mockup scenarios to practice safe navigation and basic operator skills.

This 5-day course provides systems maintenance & management training to personnel who perform Shipboard Command and Control System (SCCS) maintenance & management on 110' WPBs. The target audience consists of the Coast Guard Electronics Technicians who perform SCCS maintenance & management duties. The course consists of lecture and lab exercises to provide the student with the minimum skills required to maintain, repair, and manage the 110' WPB SCCS, including tactical computer hardware and associated communications equipment.

Special Information: A member only needs to attend this course once in his/her Coast Guard Career, regardless of the cutter class service member is assigned to (it should be noted that attending the CG-ECDIS Operator course also applies as completing this course).

This 5-day course provides the student with the minimum skills required to operate the Electronic Chart Display System Information System (ECDIS) onboard 110' WPB, 140' WTGB, 154' FRC, 210', and 270' WMEC, 378' WHEC and 418' WMSL Coast Guard cutters. The target audience consists of the Coast Guard Officers and Boatswain Mates onboard these vessels who operate the ECDIS system. The course consists of lecture and student exercises to provide the student with the minimum skills required to operate the ECDIS system.
This course is college accredited and IMO certified.

This 5-day course provides the student with the minimum skills required to operate the Seawatch system onboard a PATFORSWA 110' WPB, FRC, 110', 210', and 270' WMEC, and 378 WHEC Coast Guard cutters. The target audience consists of the Coast Guard Officers and Operation Specialists onboard these vessels who operate the Seawatch system (and on FRCs, the junior officers, BMs, and ETs). The course consists of lecture and student exercises to provide the student with the minimum skills required to operate the Seawatch system.
This course is college accredited.
