The CLEP General Exams consist of five exams that test college level knowledge in five basic areas of "general" education. Each exam is multiple choice, has a 90-minute time limit and is recommended for six semester hours of college credit. Therefore if you completed all five, you would have 30 semester hours of credit. That equates to one year of college coursework. Exams are free of charge to active duty members.
The DSST Exams consist of 38 exams in a variety of college subject areas. ACE recommends 3 semester hours for each exam. Exams are free of charge to active duty members.
