Response Boats

Station St. Ignace operates two 25' Defender-class SAFE Boats (link, opens in new window), hull numbers 255041 and 25831.

These small boats are used in calm to moderate seas to respond quickly to SAR, conduct Law Enforcement operations, and mounted automatic weapon (MAW) patrols.

47' Motor Life Boat

We also operate a Textron Marine 47' Motor Life Boat (link, opens in new window), hull number 47222.

The 47' MLB is a rugged workhorse that is able to respond to distressed boaters in the roughest water conditions. CG 47222 is a versatile platform, able to conduct MAW and Law enforcement operations, as well as boat-assisted helicopter operations.

26' TANB

The Aids to Navigation (AtoN) team operates a Metal Shark "Courageous" (link, opens in a new window), hull number 26172.

Station St. Ignace took ownership of the Coast Guard's new standardized 26' Trailerable Aids to Navigation Boat (TANB) in March of 2010, replacing its previous 23' SeaArk Commander. The new TANB's shallow draft and hoisting crane make it perfectly suited to work buoys, lights and day beacons in the Straits area. The new 26' TANB also has the capability to mount servicable weapons in support of the station's PWCS mission.
