Bayfield, Wisconsin, which has a resident population of less than 700, hosts one of the smallest and busiest Coast Guard stations on the Great Lakes. Established in 1946, Station Bayfield was designated as part of Sector Sault Ste. Marie (Michigan) in 2001.
