followed by serving at a Controller position at Group Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. A long-term family emergency then forced the
next move down the interstate to serve at a Controller position at Group
Detroit, Michigan.
The
next assignment was served at Loran Station, Gillette, Wyoming. This assignment lasted a year, after which
QM1 Dale was assigned to CGC CAMPBELL (WMEC-909), homeported in New Bedford,
Massachusetts. The significant
achievement of the CAMPBELL during this tour was a three month operation and
patrol of the Baltic Sea and various countries throughout Scandinavia, Europe,
and Africa. After the tour on the CAMPBELL,
QMC Dale was assigned to the Command Center Supervisor position at Group/Sector
Detroit, Michigan. During this tour, the
Quartermaster Rate was discontinued and Senior Chief Dale cross-rated to
Operations Specialist. After the end of the tour in Detroit, OSCS Dale was assigned
the Command Center Supervisor position at Sector Guam.
Senior
Chief Dale’s next assignment was the Command Senior Chief for Coast Guard
