



Chaplain Ryan Rupe, LCDR, USN
LCDR Ryan Rupe currently serves as chaplain for Sector Lake Michigan and Sector Sault Ste Marie. A native of Milwaukee, Chaplain Rupe is an ordained pastor of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod and has served on Active Duty for seven years.
LCDR Rupe graduated from Ripon College with a B.A. in Political Science and History in 1992 and he received his M.Div. from Concordia Seminary in 1998. From 1998-2002 Chaplain Rupe served as Associate Pastor of Epiphany Lutheran Church in Pearland, TX and worked as a Naval Reserve chaplain in Houston, St. Louis and Bossier City, LA.
In early 2002, Chaplain Rupe volunteered for Active Duty and was assigned to the School of Infantry (West) Camp Pendleton, CA. In 2005 he was transferred to the Atlantic Fleet and served on the USS SAIPAN, USS BATAAN, and USS OAK HILL. In 2007 Chaplain Rupe volunteered as an Individual Augmentee with Naval Provisional Detainee Battalion Three in Camp Bucca Iraq and served in the combat zone for nine months. After returning in early 2008 Chaplain Rupe was appointed Deputy Director of the Operational Ministry Center, Norfolk, VA. In November, 2008 he was transferred to his current posting.
Chaplain Rupe's personal awards include the Navy Achievement Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal and the Bronze Star.
