Unit Information

Station (small) Chicago is a sub-unit of Station Calumet Harbor. It is a seasonal station open from May 1st until October 31st each year and manned by 1 boat crew from Calumet Harbor. The Station is housed in the Old Chicago Life Saving Station just south of Navy Pier Adjacent to the Chicago River Locks. The Station (sm) Chicago is commonly known as the Chicago Marine Safety Station as it is a joint facility shared with the Chicago Police Marine and Helicopter Division, and the Illinois Conservation Police. The Coast Guard and the City of Chicago recently spent more than 3 million to renovate the building and it was officially opened in 2005.
