SUNOCO OIL SPILL IN OTTER CREEK

TUESDAY, MARCH 18, 2008


Discharge source                                            In Oregon, Ohio, at approximately 11:00 am, 

                                            the Oregon Fire Department reported a sheen

                                            on Otter Creek, which empties into the Maumee 

                                            River. The Sunoco Oil Spill Response team, 

                                            along with the US Coast Guard, US and Ohio 

\                                           EPA, and the Buckeye Pipeline were on scene 

                                            to investigate.  Contractors for Sunoco began 

                                            cleanup of the spill incorporating boom and 

                                            absorbent pad deployment and vacuum truck

                                            operation, in an effort to intercept product before

                                            reaching Lake Erie.
