Chaplain
US Coast Guard Ninth District
Chaplain Plummer enlisted in the Navy and served onboard the USS NIMITZ as a
Photographer's Mate ('78-'81), and Great Lakes Training Center ('81-82).
During the remainder of the 80's he managed the Photo Lab at a privately
owned mapping firm in northern Virginia. In '90 he entered Virginia
Commonwealth University and graduated in '93 with a bachelor's degree
majoring in religious studies. He received a master of divinity degree at
Gettysburg Lutheran Seminary in '97, and was ordained and called to serve a
small congregational in rural Virginia. During his years at college and
seminary he served in the U.S. Navy Reserve as a Storekeeper. In '99 he
assessed into the U.S. Navy Chaplain Corps and since served in Iceland
('99-'02); US Navy Seabees - NMCB 40 ('02-05), which included two
deployments in Okinawa; US Marines - MWSS 373 ('05-'07), which included a
deployment in Iraq; Operational Ministry Center/Surface Force Ministry
Center - San Diego ('07-'10), which included a WESTPAC cruise serving aboard
three Destroyers and a Cruiser, and he volunteered to serve as an individual
augment (IA) for over 12 months with the Army in Iraq. Chaplain Plummer now
serves as the Ninth Coast Guard District Chaplain. His goal is to follow
Jesus' model of servant-leadership and always take care of people, treating
everyone with respect and kindness.

Shoes
For Latvia and Cleveland Kids Being Collected!
Shoe
collection is taking place at many locations throughout the WCRF listening
area through Sunday, August 3rd. WCRF invites you to drop off new shoes (and
socks) for the 2008 Shoes For Orphan Souls shoe collection drive now. New
shoes of all sizes will go to needy kids in Latvia along
with a portion going to kids in need right here in our backyard in Greater
Cleveland.
There are three things you can do:
1. Buy pairs of new
shoes and socks and drop them off
at one of the area locations listed
here.
2.
Consider traveling to Latvia this fall
with Mark Zimmerman and a team of other lay missionaries to deliver the
shoes in the name of Jesus. Click
here for details.
3. Pray
that God blesses this collection. And
that thousands of shoes go to exactly the kids God has selected.
City Mission
D9 Travelers: Bring back the hotels complimentary soaps and shampoos that you don’t use when you when you’re on travel. City Mission uses them in one of their in house ministries, “Crossroads,” where they provide job training for homeless men and get them ready for job interviews. There is a drop off in the D9 Chaplain’s foyer. Thanks for your consideration.
