Prevention Department

Mission

The Prevention Department’s function focuses on gaining compliance with regulatory standards, and the design and maintenance of waterway systems to prevent incidents. The Prevention Department oversees vessel and facility inspections; casualty and personnel investigations, marine environmental protection, waterways management, and aids to navigation (ATON) program across the Sector's area of responsibility.
