TheUnited States Coast Guard Reserve is the reserve
component of the United States Coast Guard. It is
organized, trained, administered, and supplied under the direction of the Commandant of the Coast Guard
through the Director of Reserve and Training.
MISSION
The mission of the Coast Guard Reserve is to provide highly trained and well
qualified personnel available for active duty in time of war and national
emergency, and for augmentation of regular Coast Guard forces during a serious
natural or man-made disaster, accident, or catastrophe.
SENIOR RESERVE OFFICER
The Senior Reserve Officer (SRO) is responsible for ensuring that
the reserve component of MSU Lake Charles is ready to perform
contingency operations at all times. The SRO serves as a direct liaison
between the reserve component and the active duty component. The
SRO can always be approached by any reservist to answer questions,
concerns, or ideas. Some of the main duties of the SRO are to maintain
oversight of the reserve component's qualifications, training
timelines, medical readiness, drill schedules, and maintaining the
unit's reserve PAL requirements. The Senior Reserve Officer for MSU
Lake Charles is LT Michelle Ferguson.
