Lieutenant Bello serves as Executive Officer of Marine Safety Unit Baton Rouge, Louisiana. His responsibilities include carrying out Coast Guardís Homeland Security, Marine Safety and Marine Environmental Protection missions in the nationís 9th largest port by volume. Lieutenant Bello was commissioned in 2009 after completion of the Coast Guard Officer Candidate School. Upon commissioning, he was assigned to Sector Baltimoreís Prevention Department, where he began his marine safety career, rising to the Assistant Domestic Vessel Branch Chief position. In 2012, Lieutenant Bello assumed duties as Chief of Inspection at Marine Safety Unit Lake Charles, overseeing vessel inspection activities and numerous new vessel construction projects valued at over two hundred and forty million dollars. Prior to earning his commission, Lieutenant Bello served as an enlisted member advancing to the rank of Storekeeper First Class. As storekeeper, Lieutenant Bello was assigned to Coast Guard Headquarters, Office of Budget Execution, where he was responsible for procurement of over four million dollar worth of critical equipment and supplies in support of twenty-five Coast Guard programs including the start-up of the Coast Guard Deployable Operation Group. Lieutenant Bello is a native of Fugar, Nigeria, and holds a Diploma in Accounting and a Masters of Business Administration from Strayer University. His military decorations include the Coast Guard Commendation Medal (two awards), Coast Guard Achievement Medal (two awards), Good Conduct Medal (one award), and multiple team, unit and service awards. He is authorized to wear the permanent Marine Safety Insignia. Lieutenant Bello is married to Slavita Bello and they are proud parents of Shemaiah and Seraiah Bello.
