Lieutenant Beckley is a native of Spring Lake, Michigan. He entered service in June of 1987 and completed more than 18 years of enlisted service, advancing to Senior Chief Gunners Mate. His afloat assignments include: USCGC THETIS, a 270 foot Cutter homeported in Key West, Fl, USCGC MOHAWK, a 270 foot Cutter homeported in Key West, Fl, and two tours on the CHASE, a 378 foot Cutter homeported in San Pedro, CA during first tour and San Diego, CA on the second. His ashore assignments include: The Weapons Augmentation Team Key West, FL, Deployable Port Security Unit 309, located at Camp Perry, OH, and Pacific Area, in Alameda, CA. In June of 2005 he accepted a Commission as a Chief Warrant Officer and was assigned to Sector Mobile, AL as a Marine Inspector. In May of 2009 he accepted a Direct Commission to Lieutenant and was transferred to Sector Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan as the Chief of Inspections Division until June of 2012. His military awards include two Coast Guard Commendation Medals, and four Coast Guard Achievement Medals as well as numerous other service and unit awards. He earned a permanent Cutterman’s insignia, Port Security Insignia, and Marine Safety Insignia. He is a 2002 graduate of the United States Air Force Senior Non-commissioned Officer Academy. He is married to the former Melissa Bielski of Rockford, Illinois and they have four children, Hannah, Dylan, Jonah, and Miriam.
