Chief Petty Officer Scott Sears assumed the duties of Command Chief, Marine Safety Unit Baton Rouge in August of 2011. Chief Sears is a native of Anderson, South Carolina. He enlisted in the Coast Guard in May of 1990, attending Basic Training at Cape May, N.J. His previous assignments include: USCGC CHILULA (WMEC 153) USCGC ESCAPE (WMEC 6) CG STATION CRISFIELD MD USCGC ESCANABA (WMEC 907) CG RECRUITING OFFICE MOBILE, AL CG MARITIME SAFETY & SECURITY TEAM NEW ORLEANS (MSST 91112) USCG TRAINING CENTER YORKTOWN VA Chief Petty Officer Sears is a graduate of the Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer Academy (Class CLXV). His personal awards include the Joint Service Commendation Medal, three Coast Guard Achievement Medals with an operational distinguishing device, seven Commandantís Letters of Commendation with an operational distinguishing device and numerous other individual and unit awards. He is married to the former Elisabeth Schlimme of Dallas, Texas.
