Chaplain Timothy White was born in Breckenridge, Minn., and grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa with his Mom and Dad and Brother.  He attended the University of Iowa where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Religion in 1985.  Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army as a Chaplain’s Assistant.  He served three years on active duty with HHQ, 87th Maintenance Battalion in support of the 72nd Field Artillery Brigade in Peden Barracks in Wertheim, Germany.  During this assignment, he met and married the love of his life in 1987.

After completing his enlistment in the Army, Chaplain White moved to St. Paul, MN where he began seminary at Luther Northwestern Theological Seminary in the summer of 1988.  During his internship year of Seminary they went back to Germany to serve at the American Church in Berlin, Germany.

Upon graduation from seminary with a Master’s of Divinity Degree, Chaplain White took a call in Northern Minnesota at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Kelliher where Chaplain White was ordained and where he served for four years.  He and his wife are still members of this congregation.  In 1996, Chaplain White answered the call to serve as a Navy Chaplain.

His Navy assignments include, NAS Fallon, ISC Kodiak, USS ANTIETAM (CG-54), 3rd Marine Division in Okinawa, Japan where he served as the 4th Marines Regimental and the 12th Marine Regimental Chaplain.  While stationed in Okinawa, Chaplain White was deployed as an Individual Augment two times. Once with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (31st MEU) to Iraq and the second time with the Joint Special Operations Task Force – Philippines (JSOTF-P) working with American and Philippine Special Forces Soldiers, Marines and Sailors.  While stationed in Kodiak, AK, Chaplain White completed the Basic Airborne Course at Fort Benning, GA.  After returning from a WESTPAC in 2003 aboard the USS ANTIETAM (CG-54), he completed the requirements with SEAL TEAM ONE to receive his Navy Marine Corps Jump Wings. Chaplain White also completed the PQS to receive the United States Navy Fleet Marine Force Pin while stationed with the Marines in Okinawa.

Chaplain White’s other personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, 2 Navy Commendation Medals, the Army Achievement Medal, 2 USCG Achievement Medals, and an Army Good Conduct Medal.
