Commanding Officer Biography

Chief Warrant Officer Guy is the son of Howard and Barbara Guy of Atwood, TN.  He and his wife Leiane have one son, Thomas.  He graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Training Center Cape May, NJ in July 1992.  Upon graduation, he was assigned to CG Base Honolulu.  In May 1993, he was transferred to USCGC KISKA (WPB 1336) in Hilo, HI.  In 1994, he was transferred to Station Port Isabel, TX.  After advancing to Boatswain’s Mate Second Class in 1997, he was assigned to the USCGC KODIAK ISLAND (WPB 1341) in Panama City Beach, FL.  Afterwards, he was assigned as a supervisor at USCG Shore Side Detachment in Buchanan, TX from 1999 to 2002.  He served as the Executive Petty Officer on board the USCGC CHIPPEWA (WLR 75404) until 2003.  He served as the Executive Petty Officer on board the USCGC STINGRAY (WPB 87305) and advanced to Chief Boatswain’s Mate in 2005.  From 2005-2008, CWO Guy served as the Executive Petty Officer of USCG Station Ponce de Leon Inlet, FL.  He was advanced to Chief Warrant Officer in May 2008 and was assigned to the USCGC ALDER (WLB 216) in Duluth, MN as the First Lieutenant.  He became the Commanding Officer of USCGC MANTA in July 2011.  Mr. Guy is in receipt of orders to the Waterways Management Division at Sector Upper Mississippi. 

Chief Warrant Officer Guy’s military decorations include: Coast Guard Commendation Medal (w/ Operation Distinguishing Device (O) and one gold star), Coast Guard Achievement Medal (w/ O and two gold stars), Commandant’s Letter of Commendation Ribbon (with O and two gold stars), Coast Guard Good Conduct Medal (w/ four bronze stars), and Coast Guard Sea Service Ribbon (w/ two bronze stars).  In 2007, He received his highest honor as the recipient of the 2006 Douglas Munroe Award winner for Inspirational Leadership.
