Commanding Officer (CO)
LTJG Taylor C Kellogg assumed command of USCGC HERON on June 5, 2009.
Lieutenant Junior Grade Taylor C Kellogg, a native of Philadelphia, PA, enlisted in the Coast Guard in 2006. After completing Boot Camp, LTJG Kellogg was stationed aboard CGC KENNEBEC (WLIC 802) in Portsmouth, VA. LTJG Kellogg was selected for Officer Candidate School at the Coast Guard Academy in New London Connecticut. Upon receipt of his commission, he was assigned to CGC HAMILTON (WHEC 715) in San Diego, CA serving as Navigator and First Lieutenant. During his tenure, LTJG Kellogg conducted counter drug patrols and an Alaskan Patrol. Ultimately responsible for the prevention of over 18,000lbs of cocaine from reaching the United States and becoming the first High Endurance Cutter to patrol the Arctic Ocean.
LTJG Kellogg received his Bachelor's degree in Business Management from Philadelphia University in Philadelphia, PA. His personal awards include the Coast Guard Achievement Medal and a number of unit, team and service awards.

BMC Vinny Taravella became the Executive Petty Officer of USCGC HERON in April 2009.
