Incident Management Branch (drm)
The District Eight Incident Management Branch (drm) is responsible for overseeing search and rescue, marine environmental response and natural disaster response operations. Additionally, the following regional coordination responsibilities reside within drm:
- Regional Response Team (RRT) 6, 7 and 8 Co-Chair;
- Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Region 6, 7 and 8 and Regional Interagency Steering Committee (RISC) representative;
- Mexico-United States Gulf of Mexico (MEXUSGULF) Joint Response Team (JRT) Co-Chair.
The Incident Management Branch is comprised of the Incident Management & Preparedness Advisor, District Response Advisory Team (DRAT) and Command Center.
District Eight DRAT is the nucleaus of the District Resposne Group (DRG) assisting district units with natural disaster response operations as well as identifying, evaluating and working to mitigate the adverse environmental effects of oil discharges and hazardous substance releases into the marine environment.
District Eight Command Center oversees and coordinates Search and Resue, Marine Environmental Protection; Ports, Waterways and Coastal Security; Maritime Law Enforcement and Defense Readiness activities throughout the District Eight area of responsibility encompassing 1,200 miles of coastline including the waters of the Gulf of Mexico to the outermost extent of the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and 10,300 miles of inland navigable waterways.
