Coastal Region Bridge Branch (dpb)
The Bridge Administration Program is congressionally mandated
function to protect the public right of navigation. Program
responsibility was delegated to the Coast Guard in the Transportation
Act. This regulatory program applies to any type of bridge over a
navigable water of the United States. The St. Louis Bridge Office is
located on the 2nd floor of Robert A. Young Federal Building in
downtown St. Louis, Missouri.
Our area of responsibility covers all or part of 23 states
which includes Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa,
Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota, Misissippi, Misouri, Montana,
Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Dakota,
Tennessee, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
To administer the various bridge statutes, environmental laws
of the United States, pertinent regulations and policies in a timely,
courteous, responsive and professional manner. This mission will
contribute to the development of a safer, more eficient and convenient
marine and land transportation system that will effectively utilize and
conserve the nation's resources in a cost efficient manner, while
providing for the well-being, general safety, security and interests of
the citizens of the United States.
The Coastal Region Bridge Branch supports the four coastal
sectors: Sector Mobile, Sector New Orleans, Sector Houston/Galveston
and Sector Corpus Christi.
