Station Key West - About Us

Southernmost Lifesavers

.Coast Guard Station Key West is a Multi-Mission unit with many responsibilities and assets assigned to cover approximately 2500 square miles in the lower Florida Keys and surrounding waters. Station Key West is currently defined as a MLE Level 1, Pursuit & PWCS Station. The men and women of Station Key West are highly trained professional mariners that respond to all missions with tireless vigor. The unit is responsible for Search and Rescue (SAR) missions that range from disoriented boaters to cases involving the safety of life at sea. Maritime Law Enforcement duties include recreational boating safety, environmental protection, fisheries regulations, counter narcotics enforcement and immigration laws, just to name a few. Station Key West also performs Ports, Waterways and Coastal Security, enforcing water-side security zones near High Value Assets in the lower Florida Keys. Station Key West currently has 5 boats assigned to carry out these missions. They are the 45' RB-M, 33' SPC-LE and 24' SPC-SW. But, our greatest asset is the crew! Without their enthusiasm, devotion to duty and professionalism, our missions would fail.
