COMMANDING OFFICER
Lieutenant Paul E. Turner, USCG
Lieutenant Turner, a native of Ft. Worth, Texas enlisted in the United States Coast Guard in September of 1996. Immediately following Boot Camp he was assigned to Training Center Yorktown, VA as a Seaman Apprentice. After striking Storekeeper, he was assigned to Air Station Corpus Christi, TX as Supply Petty Officer. In December of 1998, he transferred to Small Boat Station South Padre Island, TX where he served out of rate as Operations Petty Officer and Station Officer of the Day.
Lieutenant Turner's next assignment was at the Maritime Law Enforcement Academy in Charleston, SC as a Use of Force Instructor. In 2005, after a year at the MLE Academy he was chosen for the Select Reserve Direct Commission (SRDC) Program, New London, CT. Lieutenant Turner's first assignment after SRDC was Sector New Orleans, LA as an Operational Planner in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. From 2006-2008 he returned to the Maritime Law Enforcement Academy as Boarding Officer Qualification Support Program Manager (BOQSP) / Assistant Training Officer and then served as Chief of Enforcement at Marine Safety Unit (MSU) Port Arthur, TX. In May of 2011, Lieutenant Turner completed his most recent assignment as a Command Duty Officer at Sector New York.
Lieutenant Turner is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, specializing in Marketing.
Lieutenant Turner's awards include the Coast Guard Commendation Medal, four Coast Guard Achievement Medals, three Coast Guard Commandant's Letter of Commendation and the Advanced Boat Forces Operations Insignia.
