Logistics Department

The Logistics Department coordinates the management and execution of all support functions for Sector Miami and outlying units, enabling them to accomplish their missions and maintain operational readiness.

The Department is paramount in the logistics being provided every year during the active hurricane season. Coast Guard member accountability before and after a storm is an enormous challenge. The department has two six-person deployable hurricane response teams that are ready to assist Sector Miami units and over 1,000 Coast Guard Active Duty, Reserve, Civilian and Auxiliary personnel, addressing immediate needs and supplies. These teams coordinate directly with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and other Coast Guard units to ensure the Coast Guard remains ready to respond to any subsequent impact from the storm.

Logistics is divided into four divisions: Administration, Supply, Armory and Engineering. Each of the Logistics Divisions works together to enable Sector Miami operational units to perform Search and Rescue, Law Enforcement, Counter-drug, Alien Migration, Port Security, and Environmental Protection missions.
