Responsible for implementing the voluntary inspection program for uninspected
commercial fishing vessels. This branch also conducts voluntary exams on
uninspected towing & passenger (6 pax) vessels. In addition, this branch
follows up on all commercial vessel owner's requests for examination resulting
from deficiencies noted during a Coast Guard 4100 boarding at sea.
NVIC 07-94: Guidance on the Passenger Vessel Safety Act - Includes
charter agreements, requirements for vessels that carry more than 12
passengers and other regulations for passenger carrying vessels.
Towing Vessel Bridging Program
A Towing Vessel Bridging Program (TVBP) has been initiated by the Office
of Vessel Activities (CG-5431) to ease the transition and ensure that
both the Coast Guard and the towing vessel industry are informed and
prepared to meet the new requirements to be finalized in Subchapter
M.
USCG 840 Inspection Books
These Inspection Books are used by Marine Inspectors during the course
of their inspections. Vessel operators are encouraged to use them in
preparation for applicable Coast Guard inspections.
