USCGC KNIGHT ISLAND
(WPB 1348) is the 48th "Island" Class Cutter to join the fleet and is named
after an island in Prince William Sound, Alaska. The cutter was built by
Bollinger Machine Shop and Shipyard in Lockport, LA. The cutter's design is
based on the internationally known Vosper Thornycroft Patrol Boats of Great
Britain. Although built primarily as a law enforcement platform, USCGC
KNIGHT ISLAND is considered a multi-mission resource.
