Master Chief Petty Officer Dan Pesnell

Master Chief Petty Officer Dan Pesnell assumed duties as Command Master Chief (CMC), Sector St Petersburg on June 4th,2015. His primary responsibility is to advise Captain Gregory Case, the Commanding Officer of Sector St Petersburg, on issues and initiatives pertaining to all Coast Guard members and their families within Sector St Petersburg. Sector St Petersburg includes over 825 Active Duty and Reserve Military Members, 27 Civilian, and 1800 Auxiliary personnel; which man five Search and Rescue Stations, six cutters, and an Aids to Navigation Team watching over more than 400 miles of Florida’s Western Shoreline.

Most recently Master Chief Pesnell served as CMC for Communications Area Master Station Atlantic (CAMSLANT) in Chesapeake, Va. His previous assignments include USCGC’s Mallow, Papaw, Wrangell, Saginaw, and Matinicus as well as the 17th District Command Center, Vessel Traffic Service Valdez, AK, and CG-9335 (C4ISR Acquisitions). During this 24 year career, he has amassed over eight years of sea time and qualifications as a Deck Watch Officer, VTS Watch Supervisor, and Contracting Officers Technical Representative.

 Master Chief Pesnell is a proud graduate of the Coast Guard Quartermaster A School, Chief Petty Officers Academy class 119, the Coast Guard Senior Enlisted Leadership Course, and the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, Class 61. Additionally, Master Chief Pesnell holds a Bachelor of Arts in Homeland Security and Emergency Management from Ashford University.

Master Chief Pesnell’s awards include three Coast Guard Commendation Medals, a Coast Guard Achievement Medals, three Letters of Commendation with Operational Distinguishing Device, seven Good Conduct Metals, and two National Defense metals. Master Chief Pesnell is a Cutterman.
