The Command Master Chief (CMC) is the direct representative to the Sector Commander on all matters pertaining to efficient and effective management of day to day activities in their area of responsibility (AOR). They assist and advise in enhancing policy, strategy, and outreach to the workforce, serve as a liaison to the Command Master Chief (CMC) and Chief Petty Officer (CPO) network and manage communications between the Sector Commander and senior enlisted leaders throughout their AOR. The CMC will provide accurate and timely dissemination of information to the workforce, make routine and frequent visits throughout their AOR, and provide field level perspective back to the Sector Commander.
Chief Egelston enlisted in the Coast Guard on April 13, 1993. His past duty assignments (in chronological order) include: Coast
Guard Cutter YOCONA (Kodiak, AK), Coast Guard Station Cape May (Cape May,
NJ), Coast Guard Cutter BARRACUDA (Eureka, CA), Coast Guard Station Oswego
(Oswego, NY), Coast Guard Maritime Safety and Security Team 91101 (Seattle,
WA), Coast Guard Station Port Huron (Port Huron, MI), Maritime Force
Protection Unit Kings Bay (Kings Bay, GA), and Coast Guard Cutter KNIGHT
ISLAND (Key West, FL). He has been assigned to Sector Key West as the
Command Master Chief since July of 2014.
Master Chief Egelston’s personal awards include the Coast Guard Commendation Medal (4), Coast Guard Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal (2), Humanitarian Service Medal, and the Coast Guard Good Conduct Medal (7). He has also received the Cutterman, Boat Forces Command, and Coxswain Insignias.
He graduated with honors from the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy in August of 2009, and from the Chief Petty Officer Academy in 2004.
