It is the responsibility of the Logistics Department to coordinate the management and execution of all support functions for Sector Key West and outlying units, enabling them to accomplish their missions and maintain operational readiness. The Department is paramount in the logistics being provided every year during the active hurricane season. Coast Guard member accountability before and after a storm is an enormous challenge. The department has deployable hurricane response teams that are ready to assist Sector Key West units and Coast Guard Active Duty, Reserve, Civilian and Auxiliary personnel, addressing immediate needs and supplies. These teams coordinate directly with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and other Coast Guard units to ensure the Coast Guard remains ready to respond to any subsequent impact from the storm. Logistics is divided into four divisions: Administration, Supply, Armory and Engineering. Each of the Logistics Divisions works together to enable Sector Key West operational units to perform that all Search and Rescue, Law Enforcement, Counter Drug, Alien Migration, Port Security, and Environmental cases.
