Commander Patrick C. Schreiber, USCG
Coast Guard Sector Key West, Florida
Commander Schreiber assumed the duties as Deputy Commander, Coast Guard Sector Key West in June 2015. In this capacity he serves as the senior advisor and Alternate Captain of the Port overseeing three multi mission stations, six patrol boat crews and an Aids to Navigation Team. His career assignments have focused on Law Enforcement, Search and Rescue and Intelligence.
Commander Schreiber graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in 1994 with A Bachelor of Science degree in Government. His first assignment was Weapons Officer and First Lieutenant onboard the Coast Guard Cutter Tahoma in New Bedford, Massachusetts. During this tour TAHOMA was deployed in support of Operation Able Manner during the Haiti Mass Migration of 1994. Commander Schreiber was then assigned to the Seventh District Office of Law Enforcement in Miami, FL from 1996-1999 charged with coordinating migrant interdiction efforts throughout Florida and the Caribbean.
Following this tour he was assigned as Assistant Operations Officer, Coast Guard Group Miami, FL from 1999-2002 supervising Search and Rescue and Law Enforcement Operations from Malabar to Homestead, FL. Additionally, he oversaw in the operation of nine patrol boats and four small boat stations. From 2002-2005 he served as Commanding Officer of Coast Guard Station South Padre Island, TX responsible for Law Enforcement and Search and Rescue Operations along the US/MX border. During his tour, the Station interdicted nearly 30,000 pounds of illicit contraband and over 900 illegal migrants in addition to seizing dozens of fishing vessels fishing illegally in the US Exclusive Economic Zone.
Commander Schreiber was then selected for graduate studies in Strategic Intelligence at the Defense Intelligence Agency in Washington, DC from 2005-2006 where he earned a Master’s of Science in Strategic Intelligence. His follow on assignment was in the Intelligence Directorate (J2) as a Coast Guard Liaison Officer to US Southern Command from 2006-2008. His next operational assignment was as Response Chief at Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville, FL from 2008-2011 where he was responsible for all Search and Rescue, Law Enforcement and Homeland Security Missions in North and Central Florida.
Commander Schreiber’s last assignment prior to Sector Key West was Chief of Intelligence for the Seventh Coast Guard District where he was responsible for oversight and execution of Coast Guard Intelligence activities throughout the entire Caribbean and Southeast United States.Commander Schreiber is married to the former Amanda Beasley and they have four children together: Kylie, Patrick, Phillip and Abigail. His personal awards include Defense Meritorious Service Medal, two Meritorious Service Medals, three Coast Guard Commendation Medals, the Joint Service Achievement Medal, the Coast Guard Achievement Medal, and the 9/11 Medal.
