The Coast Guard is not allowed to spend any funds
conducting Burial at Sea details, committal ceremonies will be carryout
by units when their operational schedule allows. Because of these
constrains we cannot promise or guarantee specific dates or level of
participation in the service by family members.
By law, the Coast Guard will provide a two (2) person
team to play taps and present the flag to the next of kin.
If the family wishes a full Honor Guard (15 members) they must contact
a local veterans group to help.
Sector Jacksonville's Color/Honor Guard is a part-time unit.For mission planning purposes, at a minimum we need
at least one business day (Monday - Friday) of advance notice to
coordinate the MFH.
Documents needed: DD-214 or other discharge paperwork
and copy of Death Certificate
