Senior Chief Yeoman Robert Miller became Sector Jacksonville’s second Command Master Chief (CMC) on 19 February 2010. He will be filling this important role until AMTCM Kenneth Morris arrives later this summer from the Army Sergeant Major’s Academy. Senior Chief Miller was born and raised in Jeannette, Pennsylvania and is a loyal Pittsburgh sports fan to date. He joined the United States Coast Guard in February 1990 after honorably serving 3 years in the United States Army and 2 years in the Army Reserve. During his Coast Guard career he has served onboard two different cutters: USCGC METOMPKIN (WLB-1325) out of Charleston, South Carolina and USCGC ELM (WLB-204) out of Atlantic Beach, North Carolina. His shore units include Air Station San Diego, Group Detroit, ISC Cleveland, CGD ONE, and ISC Boston. Senior Chief Miller will be advancing to Master Chief Yeoman later this year and he’s expecting orders out of the area due to the needs of the service. Senior Chief Miller graduated from the Senior Enlisted Leadership Course (CMC Course) on 25 September 2009 in New London, Connecticut. He also graduated from the Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer’s Academy in Petaluma, California on 4 February 2004. Senior Chief Miller is currently enrolled with Ashford University while focusing his studies on a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Management degree. He’s a proud member of the Dean’s List along with being a strong advocate of personal and professional growth. Senior Chief Miller’s military awards include the Coast Guard Achievement Medal (two awards), Army Achievement Medal, Commandant Letter of Commendation (two awards), Coast Guard Good Conduct Medal (5 awards), and the Army Good Conduct Medal in addition to other numerous personal and unit awards. Senior Chief Miller, his wife Denise, and their dog “Marty” currently live in Orange Park, Florida. |
