  • In the event you have not set up your Household Goods Shipment (HHG’s), you will want to ensure this is one of your priorities as soon as you receive your Original Permanent Change of Station (PCS) orders. SMART Web Move is the user-friendly program developed to help active duty personnel and their families plan and arrange household goods moves online, anytime.   • As with most personnel transferring to a new area, your initial inquiries are probably related to area familiarization and housing issues. If you are interested in Government Military Housing (GMH), please contact the GHM Housing Office located at Naval Station Mayport at (904) 270-8870, or visit their website at http://www.nsmayporthomes.com/Home.aspx. GHM is Privatized Housing, and is referred to as Public/Private Venture (PPV) housing within the Department of Defense (DOD). If you decide to occupy GHM Housing, it is crucial that you work with your Servicing Personnel Officer (SPO) and your Local Housing Office to ensure proper pay transactions are completed.
  • With limited Government Owned and PPV Housing, over 70% of the Coast Guard Active Duty Personnel reside on the economy in Northeast Florida Region. The current Basic Allowance for Housing rates can be found at http://perdiem.hqda.pentagon.mil/perdiem/bah.html.
  • For those who qualify, typically unaccompanied E-3 and below assigned to a Coast Guard Cutter, Sector Jacksonville manages Coast Guard leased apartments. If you desire information on the Leased Housing Program or wish to determine your eligibility, you should contact the Sector Jacksonville Housing Officer.

  • Housing accommodations, both rental and purchase are plentiful in the area. Prices vary with the location, but are reasonable in comparison to similar cities. Finding suitable accommodations within a reasonable commuting time to our office spaces should pose no problem.
  • The Jacksonville area has much to offer to please the tastes of most anyone; sports abound. There are unlimited opportunities for fishing, boating, golfing, and tennis. For swimming and sunbathing, it is only a few minutes drive to the beaches. We a Fitness Center located at the Sector, which is also available for use by spouses and dependents. The Times-Union Center for the Performing Arts downtown and the Alltel Stadium, home to the NFL Jacksonville Jaguars, frequently present various concerts and entertainment.
  • The Jacksonville area (Duval County) schools are well rated and there are several excellent colleges for those desiring to further their education. Naval Air Station Jacksonville and Naval Station Mayport offer medical, commissary, exchange, and recreation facilities. The weather runs the entire spectrum; we have an abundance of nice days with plenty of sunshine, summer thunderstorms are frequent, and although winter is short, occasional freezes can be expected.
  • Jacksonville, the gateway to Florida, is a vibrant, growing community with over a million people in the metropolitan area. With a median age of age of only 35.0, Jacksonville is the “youngest” major city in Florida. Money Magazine has consistently ranked Jacksonville as one of its “Top 10 Best Places to Live.”
  • The First Coast offers many recreational events and cultural opportunities. Both players and spectators can enjoy almost any sport year-round. The Jacksonville area is home to the Professional Golfers Association, the World Golf Village, and the PGA Hall of Fame. The Association of Tennis Professionals has also made the First coast their home. Jacksonville has a minor league baseball team, the Jacksonville Suns, and a professional hockey team. The city’s largest sporting attraction is the Jacksonville Jaguars, the NFL’s 30 th expansion team. With new companies moving into the community daily, Jacksonville offers ample employment opportunities, has an attractive housing market, and world class climate; four seasons without snow. Jacksonville has a variety of homes and neighborhoods to suit every taste and budget. Jacksonville feels like home no matter where you live in a home on the river, a condominium at the beach, an apartment or a townhouse in a quiet neighborhood.

Sector Jacksonville supports Multi-Mission Station Mayport and Security Detachment Mayport, Station Ponce de Leon Inlet, and Station Port Canaveral, FL. In addition, Sector Jacksonville is parent command to four cutters, MARIA BRAY, KINGFISHER, SHRIKE, HAMMER, two Aids to Navigation teams located at Ponce de Leon and Jacksonville Beach, and MSD Canaveral.

Name of nearest city and distance: The Sector is located in Atlantic Beach, Florida, which is approximately 15 minutes east of downtown Jacksonville, Florida.

Name of nearest military facility and distance: Naval Station Mayport is located directly across the street from Sector Jacksonville. Naval Air Station Jacksonville is approximately 30 minutes west of the Sector.

Location of nearest exchange and commissary: We have a CG Exchange located onboard Sector Jacksonville. There are also 3 Navy Exchange and Commissary locations in the Jacksonville Area, one on base at N.A.S., one on base Naval Station Mayport, and one located off base in Mayport.

Area of responsibility: 190 miles of coastline stretching from King’s Bay, Georgia to Port Malabar, Florida

Is messing available: Yes, there is an excellent galley onboard Sector Jacksonville. Surf and turf every Wednesday! The current galley rates are $2.00 for breakfast, and $3.65 for lunch and dinner.

Quarters and/or barracks available: No, Single member assigned to Sector Jacksonville have the option to live on the economy. Members assigned to Cutters E-3 and below are require to live in Coast Guard Leased Housing or the cutter until Leased housing is available.
