
Master
Chief Lou Kitchin is a native of the Commonwealth of Virginia and enlisted
in the United States Coast Guard in May 1980. Master Chief Kitchin completed
his recruit training in Cape May, NJ and was assigned to Coast Guard Group
Baltimore and attached to Coast Guard Station Stillpond on the eastern shore
of Maryland. Master Chief graduated from Boatswain’s Mate “A” school in
Yorktown, VA in Jun of 1981 and was assigned to Coast Guard Station St.
Simons Island in the Seventh District. Master Chief’s follow on assignments
include Cutter CHEROKEE, Executive Petty Officer Station Taylors Island CG
BOAT 60047, Executive Petty Officer Coast Guard Station Annapolis, Officer
in Charge Coast Guard Sta Curtis Bay, Executive Petty Officer Cutter
METOMPKIN, Officer in Charge Cutter PT. GLASS, Officer in Charge Cutter
GANNET, Command Master Chief of the Fifth Coast Guard District, Officer in
Charge Cutter SOCKEYE, Officer in Charge Cutter SEA LION, and Command Master
Chief of the Seventh Coast Guard District. Master Chief Kitchin has attended
numerous service schools and is a graduate of the Coast Guard Chief Petty
Officer Academy, Class 41. Master Chief Kitchin’s military awards include
six Coast Guard Commendation Medals, two Coast Guard Achievement Medals, the
Commandant’s Letter of Commendation, ten Good Conduct Medals, and numerous
other awards. He has earned his permanent Cutterman’s insignia and Command
insignias ashore and afloat.
