Vita Tax Information  

VITA Service
For the Military Member and Civilian Employees

January 29 - April 15, 2013

The volunteer income tax assistance program (VITA) was created to provide free income tax return assistance to taxpayers who cannot afford to pay for professional help (and also as a convenience for our military members). Non-military VITA Offices provide free tax assistance to handicapped, non-English speaking, elderly and special needs taxpayers. Income guidelines are an adjusted gross annual income under $35,000.

Volunteers trained by the IRS and the Indiana Department of Revenue will offer assistance in filling out basic tax forms. All military personnel and civilian employees are eligible for tax assistance by the local VITA volunteer.

Please bring with you:

  1. Last year's tax return
  2. The tax package you received this year
  3. W2 forms
  4. Interest and dividend statements
  5. Form 1099 SSA from the Social Security Administration
  6. Social Security Cards for Dependents
  7. Real Estate Property Tax Receipt
  8. Any other documents showing income
