Captain Robert D. Phillips
US Coast Guard

Captain Phillips joined the Coast Guard in 1988 and is
a career military aviator, qualified in both C130 “Hercules” Maritime Patrol
Airplane and HH-65 “Dolphin” Short Range Rescue helicopter.
His previous tour was serving as
Chief of the Seventeenth Coast Guard District’s Incident Management Branch
where he was responsible for managing Search and Rescue, as well as oil
spill response efforts, throughout Alaska.
Prior to that assignment he served as the Executive Officer at Coast
Guard Air Station Clearwater, Florida, the largest operational unit in the
Coast Guard. Other assignments
include serving as the Operations Officer at Air Station Kodiak, Alaska, as
well as two previous flying tours in Kodiak, two tours at Air Station
Houston, Texas, and a tour as an Instructor Pilot in the HH-65 helicopter at
the Aviation Training Center in Mobile, Alabama.
While attending college Captain Phillips met his wife Lorie
“Payton” Phillips of Afton, Oklahoma. The
Phillips’ have been married for 30 years and have two children, Stephanie
who lives in Springfield, Missouri, and Christopher who currently resides in
Huntington Beach, California.
Captain Phillips' personal awards include the two Meritorious Service
Medals, three Coast Guard Commendation Medals, the Coast Guard Achievement
Medal and two Commandant's Letters of Commendation.
