HOUSING  INFORMATION

Welcome to the SFO-Air Station Atlantic City Housing Office. The Local Housing Office handles all functions related to owned or leased housing for the Sector Field Office, Air Station, Station Atlantic City, Station Barnegat Light, Stations Manasquan and Shark River. We currently have 38 owned housing units.

There is a waiting list for owned housing in most areas. Owned housing is assigned based on need first and position on the waiting list. All incoming members are required to obtain a Release from Government Housing prior to renting or buying in the community. A market survey depicting the average rental costs in the area appears below. It is advisable to start your housing search as early as possible. The rental market is very active in this area especially during the transfer season which is also the height of the tourist season.

Members who are interested and eligible for Government Housing may submit an Application for Government Housing, CG5267. To submit your housing application:

  1. Fill out a housing application CG-5267. Please be sure to include both a work and home contact phone number.

  2. Include a copy of your BAH/DEPENDENCY/EMERGENCY DATA AND SGLI VALIDATION FORM (CG-4137A) which you may obtain from your Yeoman.

  3. Attach a copy of your orders.

  4. Fax these to the Housing Office at 609-677-2176. You should call the Housing Office at 609-677-2170/2174 to confirm that your application was received.

Applications and Release from Government Housing Requests should be faxed to the Housing Office at 609-677-2176.

Local Flavor

The U. S. Coast Guard SFO and Air Station is located in Atlantic County at the Atlantic City International Airport along with the Federal Aviation Administration Technical Center.

The Area offers a variety of recreation activities from its local beaches, casinos and restaurants to its public golf courses and state parks.

There are two institutions of higher learning within 5 miles of the Air Station; Atlantic Community College which offers two-year degree programs in a number of fields and Richard Stockton State College which offers over 24 degree programs and a graduate program in business.

The area hosts one of the largest shopping malls in South Jersey, the Hamilton Mall located on the Black Horse Pike in Mays Landing. The Hamilton Mall is home to Macy's, J. C. Penney, Sears and 150 other stores. Other large shopping centers in the area include the Wrangleboro Consumer Square and the Shore Mall located on the Black Horse Pike in Egg Harbor Township. The Shore Mall features Boscov's and a TGI Fridays. All these shopping centers are approximately 2 miles from the Air Station.

There are also a large variety of Supermarkets such as Acme, Super Fresh, Shop Rite and Genuardi's located along the Black Horse Pike and Route 30. A familiar sight on many roadways is the local WAWA which offers quick stop shopping for items such as bread, milk, cold drinks, hot coffee, sandwiches etc., along with free ATM services.
