Enforcement Duties
The Sector Delaware Bay Enforcement Division is responsible for the
enforcement of federal laws and treaties and maritime homeland security for
the Delaware Bay, Delaware River, coastal Delaware and the southern New
Jersey coast. This Area of Responsibility spans over 120 miles of navigable
channel, includes four deepwater commercially vital ports as well as the
coastal waters up to 400 miles seaward of Delaware and southern New Jersey.
The division provides program oversight/advocacy for three multi-mission 87
foot Patrol Boats and two 65 foot Ice Breaking Tugs. The Enforcement
Division maintains a specialized Vessel Boarding Security Team (VBST)
charged with ensuring the security of the key port areas of the Delaware
River by screening the numerous vessels sailing its waters for security
threats. To accomplish all of this, the division works closely with other
Local, State, Federal Law Enforcement and port stakeholders in the region to
maintain maritime law and protect the third largest petro-chemical port in
United States.
