Sector Baltimore Command Center

The Command Center is manned 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Together, three watch-standers ensure the safety of people and the environment throughout the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland.

The Command Duty Officer (CDO) acts as the Search and Rescue (SAR) Mission Controller for the Chesapeake Bay. In addition to dispatching Coast Guard resources in the Chesapeake Bay, the CDO works with the Maryland Natural Resource Police, Maryland State Police, Patuxent Naval Air Station, and the various county fire and marine police units to search for boaters in distress. They can be reached at 410-576-2525.

The Assistant Command Duty Officer (ACDO) is the Marine Safety Coordinator. The MSC works with the different inspection teams, the casualty investigators, and the pollution response teams to ensure the port operates smoothly. They can be reached at 410-576-2693.

The Telecommunications Specialist of the Watch (TCOW) listens for distress calls and issues safety bulletins to boaters over the VHF radios, from the Communications Center.
