When you arrive from basic training you will typically be provided a room onboard the CG Yard in the barracks.  The barracks includes a dining facility, and your personal room includes a refrigerator and microwave.  Also located here at the Yard is a full gymnasium and outdoor pool.  You are advised not to bring more than a sea bag and some other small personal items i.e.. TV, radio, etc if you are reporting to the barracks.  All E-5 and above will be placed on the economy and receive BAH (basic allowance for housing).  Below are a few links that can assist you in finding the right area for you and your family.

If you are having difficulty obtaining info from one of these links you are encouraged to call the Ship and speak to anyone of our crew members to help find a place that best suits your needs.

OUR MISSION

Most Coast Guard tasking involves providing services of some sort to marine interests.  JAMES RANKIN’s primary mission, aids to navigation (AtoN), obviously falls into this category.  Other tasks include search and rescue, marine environmental protection, domestic ice breaking, and regulatory missions such as boarding and inspection of vessels, law enforcement, regatta patrols, and patrols for other marine events.  We must also include the very important task of providing a platform for open houses and simply “showing the flag”.  We must, therefore, be prepared at all times, through training and practice to meet all our operational commitments and respond to any and all calls for assistance. We must always be, In Omnia Paratus.
