Below Is a detailed description of the day to day duties and
responsibilities of this department.
Such duties include:
The
operation, maintenance, and repair of all machinery, piping systems,
interior communications systems, and electronic and electrical devices
not specifically assigned to other departments.
The
operation and maintenance of the main propulsion machinery.
The
furnishing of power, light ventilation, climate control, refrigeration,
and water; and the operation and maintenance of related auxiliary
equipment.
The
repair and upkeep of the small boat auxiliary equipment and engine.
The
maintenance and repair of the hull structure and its appurtenances,
except as specifically assigned to other departments.
The
care, stowage, and use of fuels and lubricants not assigned to other
departments.
Directing the maintenance and inventory control of all engineering spare
parts. The EPO shall ensure that adequate spare parts are retained on
board to conduct necessary repairs.
All
preparations for dry-dock or dockside availabilities; including
comprehensive work lists, maintenance projects lists, Engineering Change
Requests (ECR’s), docking plans, and availability schedules.
The
maintenance of the Engineering Logs.
Maintaining the CMPlus, Machinery History, and Current Ship’s
Maintenance Projects (CSMP), and Preventive Maintenance System, per
current instructions.
