Below Is a detailed description of the day to day duties and
responsibilities of this department.
Such duties include:
The
upkeep and cleanliness of the exterior of the ship and of those
compartments and spaces not specifically assigned as the responsibility
of another department.
The
upkeep and use of the ground tackle, windlass, mooring lines, hawsers,
and related equipment.
The
operation, repair, and maintenance of all life rafts and other
lifesaving equipment.
The
maintenance of the Hull History, Rigging and Anchor logs per
instructions issued by Commandant.
The
care and upkeep of rigging, lifelines, towing gear and equipment,
gangways, and other deck equipment.
The
care and upkeep of equipment used to recover personnel from the water.
The
maintenance and accountability of all assigned weapons, including small
arms, ammunition, and pyrotechnics, and all weapons-related supplies and
equipment.
The training for the execution of all deck evolutions, including ATON, deck
safety, towing, aircraft operations, abandon-ship, recovery of personnel
from the water, line handling, anchoring, and launching and recovering
small boats.
