LCDR Mark Palmer
LCDR Mark Palmer reported to ELM following a 10 month assignment as Commanding Officer of USCGC JAMES RANKIN in Baltimore, MD. A native of Seattle, WA, LCDR Palmer enlisted in the Coast Guard in April 1980, and has served at numerous afloat and ashore units including; Station Chetco River, OR, USCGC MELLON, Base/Group Fort Macon, NC, Station Fort Totten, NY (XPO), USCGC LINE (OINC), USCGC PLANETREE, USCGC WOODRUSH, Activities New York, USCGC VIGOROUS, USCGC JAMES RANKIN (CO), ther Regional Examination Center, Baltimore, and LANT Area, Portsmouth, VA.
LCDR Palmer's personal awards include the CG Commendation Medal, CG Achievement Medal, Commandant's Letter of Commendation, Military Volunteer Service Medal, and numerous other service awards. Additionally LCDR Palmer is a permanent Cutterman, and has also earned the coxswain and gold and pewter tone Boat Forces Insignia.
LCDR Palmer is married to PERS4 Lori D. Palmer, also on active duty, and they have 3 adult children.
