LCDR Gomez is a native of Jacksonville, NC and reported to the Coast Guard Academy in July 1997. Commissioned in 2001 and graduating with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Management, LCDR Gomez's first assignment was aboard the 378' CGC DALLAS (WHEC 716) home ported in Charleston, South Carolina where he served as Communications Officer, Assistant Operations Officer and Assistant Navigator. In 2003, LCDR Gomez was assigned as Operations Officer aboard CGC ELM (WLB 204). From 2005 to 2008, LCDR Gomez was a Central Assignment Coordinator in the Enlisted Assignments Branch of the Coast Guard Personnel Service Center in Arlington, Virginia where he managed assignments for over 6,000 enlisted members. Following this tour, LCDR Gomez was assigned as Commanding Officer of CGC GEORGE COBB (WLM 564) home ported in San Pedro, CA. In 2010, LCDR Gomez was selected for the Army-Baylor University Graduate Program in Health and Business Administration where he received a Masters in Healthcare Administration and a Masters in Business Administration from Baylor University in August 2012. LCDR Gomez returns to CGC ELM having just completed two years as the Coast Guard Liaison to the Defense Health Agency, formerly the TRICARE Management Activity in Falls Church, Virginia where he was responsible for policy, operations and coordination related to the extension of medical benefits to the 9.6 million beneficiaries of the Military Health System.
