Chaplain Moore was born in Augusta, GA. He was
raised in Anderson, SC and later in Oklahoma City, OK. He earned a Bachelor
of Arts in Religion from Southwestern Christian University, in Bethany, OK.
He fulfilled requirements for post-graduate level studies from Asbury
Theological Seminary, Wilmore, KY and Graduate School, Southwestern
Christian University. Chaplain Moore served as a Social Worker and
Houseparent at Falcon Children’s Home in Falcon, NC from 1989 until 1994. He
was selected to serve his alma mater, Southwestern Christian University, as
Dean of Students from 1994 until 1999. In the spring of 1999, Moore applied
to the United States Navy as a commissioned officer in pursuit of a long
held dream of becoming a military Chaplain.
Commissioned on 24 May 1999 as a Lieutenant (Junior Grade), Moore reported
to Basic Course at Naval Chaplains School in Newport, RI on 07 June 1999.
Upon completion of Chaplain School he reported aboard USS ARCTIC (AOE-8) on
05 September 1999 while the ship was deployed in the Mediterranean. Moore
was promoted to Lieutenant in July 2000 and served as the last chaplain
assigned to USS ARCTIC, completing her “Final Voyage” from April – November
2001 during Operation Enduring Freedom. Chaplain Moore reported to Naval Air
Station Sigonella, Sicily as Staff Chaplain in January 2002 and served the
community until January 2005. Chaplain Moore reported to Second Marine
Aircraft Wing, Marine Air Control Group 28, Cherry Point, NC and was
deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 04-06. Moore earned
his Chaplain Fleet Marine Force Qualified Officer pin (FMFQO) in March 2007
and was promoted to Lieutenant Commander on 01 August 2007.
CDR Moore reported to Naval Submarine Support Command, Pearl Harbor Hawaii
in October 2007. He serves as Command Chaplain for NSSC serving sixteen Fast
Attack LOS ANGELES Class Submarines, two VIRGINIA Class Submarines, three
Squadron staffs and their dependents.
Chaplain Moore’s personal decorations include the Navy Commendation Medal
(two awards), Navy Achievement Medal (three awards), Iraqi Campaign Medal
(FMF), and both the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary and Service
Medals. He is married to the former Pamela Joy Sizemore of London, KY and
the proud father of four beautiful children, Jessica 20, Isaac 19, Emily 17
and Joseph, 4 years. Moore has volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America in
Sicily and Cherry Point, NC. He enjoys playing softball, volleyball, golf
and fishing; however, he’s okay at volleyball, worse at softball, a lousy
golfer and refuses to discuss his fishing abilities (or lack thereof).
