Report an ATON Discrepancy
The Coast Guard develops, establishes, operates, and maintains Aids to Navigation systems to:
- Assist the mariner in determining position.
- Assist the mariner in determining a safe course.
- Warn the mariner of dangers and obstructions.
- Promote safe and economic movement of commercial vessel traffic.
An aids to Navigation discrepancy is considered any aid (fixed OR floating) that has failed to display its characteristics as described in the Light List or to be on its assigned position. Types of discrepancies include aids which are:
- Extinguished or dim
- Off-station
- Destroyed
- Missing
- Obscured
Reporting a discrepancy is vital in keeping our waterways safe and navigable. Please report any discrepancies to the contacts numbers below.
